What we learn while you learn to leave the phone in the box
Last updated: January 1, 2026. This policy describes how FocusLock Space collects, uses, and shares personal information when you browse our site, buy hardware, or talk to our team.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you choose to give us: name, email, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, order details, gift messages, and anything you type into contact forms or support threads. When you pay, your card data is handled by our payment processors—we receive confirmation of payment, the last few digits of a card where applicable, and fraud signals, not your full card number stored on our own servers. When you visit the site, our servers and partners may automatically log technical data such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, referring URLs, pages viewed, and timestamps. That mix helps us keep the store running, spot abuse, and understand which pages actually help people decide on a lock box versus which ones they bounce from in three seconds.
2. How we use your information
We use personal data to process and ship orders, send transactional emails (confirmations, tracking, delivery issues), answer questions, improve product copy and photography, run analytics on aggregate traffic patterns, secure accounts and checkout, comply with law, and—only where you have agreed—send marketing about new finishes, accessories, or seasonal restocks. We do not use your order history to infer sensitive categories such as health or religion; we sell physical focus tools, not surveillance profiles. Internal access is limited to people who need it for their job, and we discourage printing full customer lists on paper because that is how folders walk out of offices.
3. Retention and security
We keep order and accounting records long enough to satisfy tax, warranty, and chargeback rules, typically for several years after your last purchase unless a longer period is required where you live. Marketing preferences and newsletter logs are kept separately so we can prove when you opted in or out. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls, vendor security reviews where feasible, and employee training on phishing. No method of storage is perfect; if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will notify you as required by applicable law and describe what we are doing about it.
4. Sharing your information
We share data with service providers who help us operate: hosting, email delivery, payment processing, shipping carriers, customer support tooling, and analytics platforms. They may only use the data for the services they provide to us and are contractually expected to protect it. We may disclose information if law enforcement presents valid legal process, if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights or safety, or as part of a merger or asset sale where the successor agrees to honor this policy or notify you of changes. We do not sell your personal information for money. If we ever offer a program that California law would treat as a “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising, we will provide a clear opt-out and update this page.
5. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export certain personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, or to opt out of targeted advertising. Residents of California and several other U.S. states can request a report of categories collected, sources, purposes, and third parties, and can ask us to delete data that is not needed for legal or operational exceptions. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To submit a request, email us using the address below; we may need to verify your identity before we discuss an order tied to your name. If you are unhappy with our response, you may contact your local data protection authority where that option exists.
6. Cookies, pixels, and how the site remembers you
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep carts from evaporating when you open another tab, to remember language or region where we offer that, to measure whether an ad actually led someone to a product page, and to reduce duplicate form submissions. Some cookies are strictly necessary for checkout; others are analytics or marketing and can often be controlled through your browser settings or any cookie banner we publish. Blocking all cookies may break login or payment flows—if that happens, try allowing first-party cookies only. We do not use cookies to unlock your physical lock box; that remains offline by design.
7. Email, SMS, and quiet inboxes
Transactional messages about your order are not promotional; you will still receive them even if you unsubscribe from marketing. If you join our newsletter or ask for a restock alert, we record your consent timestamp and source. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link; SMS programs, if we run them, will include STOP instructions. We may segment lists so studio buyers do not get the same copy as first-time retail customers, but we do not buy email lists from brokers. If you forward a support thread, you are responsible for redacting other people’s data before it lands in our inbox.
8. International visitors
FocusLock Space is operated from the United States. If you visit or order from another country, your information may be processed in the U.S. or other locations where our vendors operate. Those countries may not have identical privacy laws to your own. By using the site, you acknowledge that transfer. If we need a lawful mechanism for data from the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, we will rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved tools and describe them in updates to this policy.
9. Children and teens
Our website and products are aimed at adults who can purchase and supervise use of a lock box. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen (or the higher age required in your jurisdiction) without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a minor has given us data without permission, contact us and we will delete what we can reasonably identify. Schools and parents who buy for classroom use should still place orders under an adult account.
